资源简介:
For this field experiment, all data were collected in York University's Keele campus woodlot on Tuesday September 23, 2014 at around 2:30PM to 5:30PM in the afternoon. The weather forecast for that time of the day was clear skies with a high of 22 degrees Celsius (according to http://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/toronto/m5g/september-weather/55488). The laboratory section was led by Taylor Noble with this particular dataset collected by Jason, Coleen, Zenab, Donna and Leron. For the division of labour, Jason recorded all the information. Zenab and Coleen were responsible for the measurement of DBH for both the adult Buckthorn tree and the DBH for its corresponding sapling. Leron and Donna aided in the confirmation and calculation of the data being collected whether they are all in agreement with what was being measured and calculated. As for the determination of the canopy coverage, we assigned this task for one person of the group only so to provide a more consistent measurement - Zenab was responsible for this. The woodlot has a lot of species living in it and they are in very close proximity to one another. To make the data collection easier, we chose a species of a tree that is easily spotted and easily distinguishable from the other species. Hence, we chose to study the Buckthorn tree. We then randomly selected adult Buckthorn trees in different areas of the woodlot. The population total for this study is 10 pairs of trees (one adult for every sapling observed). For the measurements, we utilized the transect.
