This data set of Fourier Amplitude Spectra (FAS) is used in the study of estimation of Site Amplification Factors (SAFs) of Horizontal component to improve seismic hazard assessment, as these factors play an important role in seismic site response. Towards this effort, the subsurface structure and the related amplification effects of two accelerometer stations in Greece were acquired, examining their use as reference stations. This was achieved by computing the Vertical-to-Horizontal spectral ratio corresponding to the depth of the seismological bedrock and comparing it with the theoretical value of ~0.76 for seismological reference stations, according to the Diffuse Field Concept for earthquakes (DFCe), in case of a Poisson solid. Thereafter, the two selected reference stations were used in Generalized Inversion Technique (GIT) to appropriately calculate the Horizontal and Vertical Spectral Amplification Factors (HSAF and VSAF, respectively) for a total of 151 accelerometer stations in Greece. The Vertical Amplification Correction Functions (VACFs) which in fact are the VSAFs for each site, were used to estimate a mean representative VACF in Greece for assessing horizontal site amplification based on Horizontal-to-Vertical Ratio of earthquake (eHVSR), where it is available, contributing thus to site specific seismic hazard assessment in regions where there is lack of observed Standard Spectral Ratios amplifications with an adjacent rock or borehole reference site (i.e. SSRs or SBRs). Simulated HSAFs were calculated, from the eHVSRs and VACFs, for sites out of the examined dataset for the frequency range 0.3-15 Hz, in order to evaluate the proposed VACF.
