Comparison of bacterial community structure in colon and cecum between pigs with or without pea-derived dietary fiber. The DLY pigs in treated group were fed diet with 5% dietary fibers from peas, while pigs in control groups were fed diet with no additional detary fibers. DNA from digesta of colon and cecum were extracted and purified. Sequences and relative abundance of the bacterial 16 S rDNA PCR-amplicons (V1-V3 hypervariable region) were determined via pyrosequencing that produced average 400 bp-long reads.
