Monthly Iorg index of deep convective organization across the tropical belt (30S-30N)

Monthly-mean Iorg index of deep convective organization computed over the tropical belt (30S- 30N) for the period January 1990 to December 2017. The Iorg index is computed by comparing the cumulative density function of the nearest-neighbor distances between deep convective centroids to that expected for a random distribution associated with a Poisson process. The deep convective centroids are identified from 3-hourly GridSat geostationary data using the local minima method. The monthly-mean Iorg is the monthly average of 3-hourly Iorg data.
