Biodiversity and Gene Expression of Microbial Communities in the Canadian Arctic

These samples were collected aboard the CCGS Amundsen as part of a long-term survey of the distribution and diversity of microbial communities in the Canadian Arctic. Each year we returned to critical areas for productivity in the Arctic Ocean, including the North Water polynya region of Baffin Bay, Lancaster Sound, while sampling stations in other regions may be added on an opportunistic basis. The multi-year nature of this survey makes it particularly useful for addressing questions about changes in microbial communities in response to changing conditions in the Arctic.
