Hongze Lake dataset for "Fate of barrier lakes on the plain from sediment-laden river capture"

This repository contains the key data products associated with the study “Fate of barrier lakes on the plain from sediment-laden river capture”. The dataset includes: (1) reconstructed palaeotopographic elevations based on 112 sediment cores from the Hongze Lake region; (2) sediment-core magnetic susceptibility and calcium (Ca) data used for sedimentary interpretation and source discrimination; and (3) age-depth model outputs used to establish chronological constraints on lake formation and sedimentary evolution. These materials underpin the reconstruction of the pre-Hongze Lake topographic framework and the interpretation of the geomorphic and sedimentary processes involved in the formation and long-term evolution of this river-capturing barrier lake system.
