Gravitational Lensing Galaxy Cluster 0500-24 SSC_37

We propose to observe an intermediate redshift gravitational lensing cluster ofgalaxies with XMM. The galaxy cluster CL050024 at redshift z 0.33 isoptically very rich and even produces a straight gravitationally lensed arcof a background galaxy. The Xray morphology and luminosity obtained with aROSAT HRI observation indicate that the cluster consists of two physicallyseparated subclumps. The derived Xray mass estimate/baryon fraction arelow/high and have large error bars. XMM observations will help to determine thedynamical state of this cluster, its temperature and gas mass fraction. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
