Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CC-2937 genome sequencing and assembly

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is a unicellular model green alga, and the genome of the strain CC-2937 harbors a giant endogenous viral element belonging to the Imitervirales 12 Family in the Nucleocytoviricota phylum. We extracted HMW DNA using a phenol-chloroform protocol, which was sequenced using Oxford Nanopore long read sequencing to resolve the viral insertion within the genome.
