Inter-cropping with Sesbania sp in oil palm plantations presents an innovative strategy to enhance soil fertility and reduce the input of nitrogen fertilizer. Sesbania grandiflora, known for its nitrogen-fixing capabilities, offers a sustainable solution to offset the cost of planting while promoting agricultural productivity. This study investigates the impact of Sesbania inter-cropping on bacterial diversity in palm soil through metagenomic analysis. By elucidating shifts in microbial communities pre and post inter-cropping, we aim to gain insights into the potential synergistic effects of Sesbania cultivation in oil palm areas. Our results reveal significant shifts in the palm soil microbiome following intercropping, with changes observed in microbial diversity, community structure, and the relative abundance of specific taxa.
