Reducing impacts of domestic animals on ecological values at the urban edge

This project will engage residents living on Canberra's urban edge to reduce the impact of domestic animals on the conservation estate and other areas of ecological value by direct communication with new and existing residents on the urban edge at key locations, community engagement events such as "pet days" in dog parks across Canberra. In addition, workshops with nature resource managers and other key stakeholders on the necessity of domestic animal control and advice on alternative activities such as the use of dog parks and off leash areas and the undertaking of cat containment measures will be conducted. The project will assess best practice community engagement in addressing urban edge impacts using domestic animals as a model.
