In the current study we specifically addressed the hypothesis that antibiotic induced modulation of the gut microbiota and function affects intestinal integrity dependent on the class of antibiotic administered. We report that antibiotic induced changes in community structure were distinct for the different drug classes with close clustering of samples within each treatment group.
