Brazilian federal environmental infraction records linked to firm industry classification 1980 to 2025

This repository provides a curated relational dataset of Brazilian federal environmental infraction records involving corporate entities, linked to firm-level industry classification using Brazil’s National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE), covering the period 1980–2025. The dataset is designed for reuse in studies of environmental enforcement and compliance, including sectoral profiling and spatial–temporal analyses, and is accompanied by documentation describing keys, variable definitions, and recommended joins. The release includes the core relational tables autos.csv (infraction events; one row per event, keyed by id_auto), empresas.csv (corporate entities; one row per validated corporate identifier, keyed by cnpj), autos_empresas.csv (event–entity links; keyed by id_auto and cnpj), and cnae_dicionario.csv (industry dictionary mapping CNAE codes to labels and hierarchical levels), as well as validation outputs diag_valid_cnpj.csv (corporate identifier validation diagnostics), qualidade_geral.csv (overall linkage and CNAE coverage summary), and qualidade_ano_uf.csv (CNAE coverage by year and state).
