It has been proposed that the number of kinetochore microtubules scales with chromosome size. In order to verify this hypothesis, I performed a literature search and plotted average chromosome size versus average number of microtubules per kinetochore for the 18 species for which I was able to find data. The purple line indicates a linear regression performed in R.
