资源简介:
The archive relates to the career of graphic designer and illustrator Bruce Weatherhead, and covers work from the 1970s until the 2000s. Bruce Weatherhead (1939-2011) is an alumnus of RMIT University. He attended Melbourne Technical College (1955-1957) where he studied illustration under Harold Friedman. After completing full-time studies in the Diploma in Art course in 1957, he travelled to the USA, spending time in Chicago. When he returned two years later, he briefly worked for Arthur Leydin, and then in 1959 joined the staff of Channel Nine's newly established animation company, where he met Alexander Stitt. In 1964 Weatherhead and Stitt left Nine and established their design studio, Weatherhead & Stitt Pty Ltd. The move ensured their creative freedom, and their Agency became a successful enterprise with major clients including advertising agencies Clemenger, Hayes, Briggs and James, and Walker Robertson Maguire. In 1965 film director Fred Schepisi proposed that Weatherhead and Stitt join him in a new film production business, which they named the 'Film House' aiming to produce commercials and short films. Weatherhead & Stitt’s next business venture was the Jigsaw Factory, which operated from 1970 until 1973. After their partnership dissolved Weatherhead continued his career in graphic design working with closely with clients including Australia Post, the Reserve Bank of Australia, Argyle Diamonds, Shadowfax Wines, Daryl Jackson, Graeme Gunn and Merchant Builders and Marriner Theatres. This collection is housed in 9 boxes. Box 9 holds larger format work.  There is an inventory available. Boxes 1-8 contain certificates, documents, photographs, news clippings and ephemera.
