Internet Plus government service platform and corporate digital transformation

We select A-share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges during 2017–2022 as the research sample and process the sample thus: (1) exclude special treatment companies and those in the financial sector to avoid the impact of special companies and industries; and (2) exclude samples with missing data on the main variables. The final sample contains 16,707 firm-year observations.
The Internet Plus government service platform data are collected from Chinese prefecture-level cities. These specific data are manually gathered from each prefecture-level city's government website work and supervision annual report. As these reports are included in the performance evaluations conducted by the General Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China , the data benefit from being released in a timely manner, having standardized indicators, and coming from an authoritative source. Corporate financial data are obtained from the China Stock Market and Accounting Research database. Notably, CDT data are manually collected from the annual reports of listed companies. To mitigate the impact of outliers, all continuous variables are winsorized at the 1% level.
