2024年 上場企業の時価総額にみる主要証券取引所

ニューヨーク証券取引所は、2024年3月時点で株式時価総額が約28兆米ドルを超え、世界最大の証券取引所となっています。ナスダック（NASDAQ）、ユーロネクスト（Euronext）、日本取引所グループ（Japan Exchange Group）の3つの証券取引所がそれに続いています。 
証券取引所とは 
証券取引所とは、株式仲買人やトレーダー、買い手、売り手が株式商品の取引を行うことができる市場のことです。世界最大級の証券取引所には、何千もの上場企業が登録されています。上場企業とは、証券取引所から自社株式を売買する資格を与えられた企業のことをいいます。上場企業の株式は公開されているため、投資家は自由に売買を行うことができます。なお、世界最古の証券取引所は、16世紀後半に設立されたドイツのフランクフルト証券取引所です。 
証券取引所のその他の役割
未上場企業が新規に株式を証券取引所に上場し、投資家に株式を提供することを、新規株式公開（IPO）といいます。規模の大きいIPOでは、上場企業が数十億ドルを超える資金調達を行う場合もあります。証券取引所と関連しているのがデリバティブ取引で、株式会社の経営者や従業員が自社株を一定の行使価格で購入できるストックオプションや先物取引などのデリバティブが取引されています。

The shares of listed companies are publicly available, allowing investors to freely conduct transactions. Additionally, the oldest securities exchange in the world is the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in Germany, which was established in the late 16th century. Other roles of the securities exchange include facilitating the initial public offering (IPO) process for unlisted companies to offer shares to investors, which can involve substantial fundraising, often exceeding several billion dollars in large IPOs. Derivatives trading, including stock options and futures contracts, are also traded in relation to the securities exchange, allowing corporate executives and employees to purchase their company's stock at a predetermined exercise price.
