Don't mess with my electoral survival

I conducted an original survey with members of the Brazilian Congress to examine preferences for an active versus passive Supreme Court across five issue areas: social values, electoral laws, bureaucratic oversight, privileged jurisdiction, and earmark allocation. While legislators are divided on most issues, they overwhelmingly favor limiting judicial authority when it comes to earmarks—a central electoral currency in Brazil.
