资源简介:
This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation of land to the east of the A355 Amersham Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in September and October 2021 on behalf of The Portman Estate. A total of 117 trenches were excavated across the 23.39ha site. No evidence for settled activity pre-dating the Iron Age was encountered during the evaluation, with early prehistoric activity represented by a small assemblage of worked flint, recovered either from the topsoil/ subsoil within the site area or from later features. The earliest firmly dated activity recorded within the site comprised the cremation burial of an adult, identified in Trench 44. Other finds included the remains of a structure or building with a sub-surface element seemingly associated with the use of heated air/ hot flue gases, a series of linear features and a tiled surface.
