Measured sorghum and maize leaf photosynthetic CO2, light response curves at multiple leaf temperatures.
Plant materials: commercial hybrids of Sorghum bicolor (Scorpio, Advanta) and Zea mays (P1197, Corteva Agriscience)
Growing conditions: Plants were grown during the summer of 2020–21 in a naturally-lit glasshouse (Brisbane, Australia) with temperatures set at 30°C between 8 am and 5 pm and 22°C at night. Three plants per hybrid were grown in 18 L pots filled with a potting medium consisting of 70% composted pine bark (0-5 mm) and 70% coco peat, which minimised the risk of waterlogging. The mix was supplemented with dolomite, gypsum, hydrated lime and Micromax to minimise symptoms of Ca-deficiency and ensure adequate nutrients.
Leaf sample measured: second fully expanded leaf from the top (or sometimes the first) under direct sunlight was used for measurement.
