Nutrient-dependent cross-kingdom interactions in the hyphosphere of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus

Access of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to soil organic resources is facilitated by associative microbiome. Here we analyzed the composition of bacteria, protists and fungi in various pot compartments (rhizosphere, hyphosphere) as affected by identity of mycorrhizal fungus and amendment of organic nutrients (chitin, phytate) into the hyphosphere to reveal core microbiome implicated in utilization of the different sources by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal hyphae in soil.
