Leeds microclimate data 2023/04-2024/08

This dataset includes hourly observations of air temperature and relative humidity from 70 different sites across the city area of Leeds in the UK. The sensors used have an accuracy of ±0.2 °C for air temperature and 1.8% for relative humidity. Observations were recorded at 15-minute time intervals to ensure a reliable hourly average value could be recorded. Sensors are bespoke and were developed and tested as part of a joint venture between Leeds Beckett University and sensor manufacturer Sesnorbee of Linköping, Sweden. For each site there is a set of metadata that describes the sector of the city, the buffer radius from the centre of the city, the type of space (grey or green), land use, the National Forestry Inventory category (if applicable), the location, the latitude and longitude, the elevation, the type of asset the sensors are attached to, the owner of the asset, and a sensor reference number. Data is included from 2023/04/16 – 2024/08/31. There is a break in the dataset between 2023/09/29 and 2024/03/01 as the sensor units required a firmware update that had to be physically installed off-line. Some of the sensors failed but all locations are included in the dataset regardless. In the summer of 2023, there were three short drop-out periods 2023/06/12 21:00-2023/06/16 03:00, 2023/07/31 22:00-2023/08/03 11:00 and 2023/08/25 07:00-2023/08/29 07:00 all due to GSM network failures. No other missing data has been interpolated, with any gaps in the data left blank.
