The aim of this proposal is to reveal the role of Mg on the degree of solubility of Si in (Fe,Mg)-oxides at high-pressure high-temperature conditions. We will study the chemical reactivity between (Fe,Mg)-oxides and SiO2 at pressures up to 200 GPa and temperatures up to 3000 K by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction and Moessbauer spectroscopy.
