Sequences generated from this study aimed at assessing the microbial communities within the Namib Desert dune and gravel plain fairy circles. The study also aimed at identifying microorganisms only found within fairy circles, possibly involved in their formation and/or maintenance. These fairy circles have been of great recent debate, and consequently, we used 16s rRNA gene and ITS gene region amplicon sequencing to assess microbial involvement in the phenomenon.
