We collected leaf samples from 58 woody plant species in five mountain forests of eastern China. Then we studied the foliar endophytic fungal communities based on fungal ITS1 regions using Illumina MiSeq sequencing. We tried to explore the biogeographic patterns and two-dimenisonal networks of endophytic fungi and host plants. We also attempted to compare the different mechanisms of fungal diversity maintenance between aboveground and belowground in mountain forests.
