Types and Distribution of Environmental Justice Conflicts in the MENA Region

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region faces many challenges and increased pressure on natural resources, and is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. An improved understanding of the patterns of ecological conflicts in the MENA region is essential for improved policy development and directing efforts and resources.
This data shows the types of ecological conflicts most common in the MENA region, and which countries show most reports of such conflicts.
The results show that Fossil Fuels and Climare Justice/Energy had the most cases reported, followed by Water Management conflicts, while the least reported was Biodiversity Conservation Conflicts. The regions that had the most reported conflicts were Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine and Israel.
