Over three quarters of the heavy commercial vehicle fleet in the United States was powered by diesel, reaching approximately 11.4 million heavy trucks in use in the country. By contrast, electric trucks were less popular, amounting to an estimated 15,000 units in the overall fleet.Battery electric heavy-duty trucks are projected to have an adoption rate of four percent in 2030, due to the challenges linked to charging infrastructure availability.
