Associations between gut microbiota and serology/urinology in systemic lupus erythematosus

The gut microbiota has been shown to be associated with the presence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and particularly, lupus nephritis. However, there is limited information on the potential relationship between disease serology/urinology and the gut microbiota in SLE. This study uses a cross-sectional approach to establish that specific bacterial taxa are indeed associated with some disease parameters including the levels of proteinuria and blood anti-double stranded DNA antibodies.
