John Green, known as Tom, signed up in Nottingham at the start of the war. He was about 23 at the time. He eventually made sergeant and a PT instructor. He was wounded and returned to England to receive further medical treatment. Editor's Comment: Sjt. Green wears Crossed Swords on his collar, indicating his status as a Physical Training instructor. The Australian, according to the patches of coloured cloth on his shoulder, served in the 25th, 26th, or 27th Battalions, 2nd Australian Division. Serjeant 13676 John Thomas Green, 1st Bn.
