A Gram-positive-staining, endospore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, lactic-acid-producing bacterium, strain GD201205T, was isolated from spoiled jelly in China，which produce lactic acid as well as aromatic compound of isoamyl acetate and phenethyl acetate. To further characterize the potential character of this strain, the whole genome of S. shenzhenensis GD201205T was sequenced. The genome sequence provides a basis for further elucidation of its molecular genetics and its features, and will facilitate its applications as starter cultures in food industry.
