Radiocarbon dates of marine shells, subfossil vegetation, driftwood and a whalebone from glacial sediments in Hornsund (Spitsbergen, Svalbard)

This dataset contains new and previously reported (see References) radiocarbon ages of marine shells, driftwood, subfossil vegetation and a whalebone collected from glacial sediments in the forefield of Hansbreen, Hornbreen, Vestre Torellbreen and Werenskioldbreen in south Spitsbergen, Svalbard. AMS radiocarbon dating of new samples was conducted at the Gliwice Radiocarbon Laboratory. All 14C dates were calibrated to calendar ages using OxCal 4.4.4 software, Marine20 calibration curve for mollusc shells and a whalebone, and IntCal20 for terrestrial material. We applied the ΔR values −61 ± 37 for molluscs and −160 ± 41 14C yrs for the whalebone, after Pieńkowski et al. (2022).
