Genome sequencing of heterocyte glycolipid-producing cyanobacteria

Whole genome sequencing of 14 heterocytous cyanobacteria with a known heterocyte glycolipid (HG) profile as described inhttps://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2413972122. This work focused in the study of the relationship between the genomic composition and sequence of the biosynthetic gene cluster responsible for HG biosynthesis (HG island), and the presence and chemical structure of the resulting HGs. Strains were obtained mostly from the Culture Collection Yerseke (CCY), but also includes one strain obtained from the Pasteur Culture Collection (PCC) and two strains from the culture collection of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM). DNA was extracted using RNeasy PowerSoil Total RNA kit plus the DNA Elution kit. Two different library preparation kits were used depending on the amount of DNA obtained: Illumina TruSeq Nano (350bp insert) or Nextera XT DNA Library Preparation Kit (96 samples) Sequencing was carried out using Illumina Novaseq 6000, 150bp PE.
