The goal of the study is to resequence two strains of T. brucei, with the same VSG archive, that have been isolated from the field several years apart. Genomic DNA will be sequenced and, because the VSG archive is very different from that of the genome strain 927, the subtelomeres will be assembled de novo and compared.
