Understanding the physical activity and food environment for people with disability living in supported accommodation: A needs assessment and participatory action research study in Victoria, Australia

This research explored how people with disability living in supported accommodation experience physical activity and food routines in Victoria, Australia. Through a series of literature reviews and qualitative studies with people with disability and support workers, this research found that the support environment plays a key role in enabling or limiting engagement with daily physical activity and food routines. It highlighted the need for more person-centered approaches to support, and better training and support systems for frontline workers. The findings inform the development of inclusive strategies and interventions to promote greater autonomy and access to opportunities for meaningful engagement.
