Changes in the gut microbiome have been associated both with physical activity as well as with a multitude of dietary, physiological, and age-related factors and diseases, such as Parkinson's disease (PD). However, microbial effects of risk and prodromal markers of PD, and microbial changes in interaction with physical activity in elderly individuals remain largely unknown. We explored these factors in a set of 666 subjects recruited for the TREND study.
