Genomic sequencing of the soybean pathogen Coniothyrium glycines and related fungi

Genomic sequencing of geographically diverse, contemporary Coniothyrium glycines isolates and related Coniothyriaceae and allies to examine species delineation, gene content, genetic diversity, phylogenetics, and population structure. Coniothyrium glycines causes red leaf blotch of soybean. It is one of two fungal plant pathogens regulated as a special agent in the United States, owing to its potential to be highly destructive if it were introduced. This project seeks to improve taxonomy and systematics, enabling better molecular and traditional diagnostic tools for this specially regulated pathogen.
