This project investigates microbial community composition and functional potential in biochar-enhanced pyrite-driven autotrophic denitrification systems. Simulated saturated-zone reactors were operated under different biochar pyrolysis temperatures to evaluate nitrogen removal performance and nitrous oxide mitigation. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing was applied to characterize microbial community responses associated with sulfur oxidation, electron transfer, and denitrification processes. The sequencing data support mechanistic analysis of biochar-regulated autotrophic denitrification in low-nitrate stormwater treatment systems.
