资源简介:
Background: Youtube is one of the most popular video-sharing websites, and people use Youtube as a source of information. Patients with scapular dyskinesia may seek information about their condition on Youtube.
Objective: This study aimed to meticulously evaluate the quality and reliability of highly viewed YouTube videos addressing scapular dyskinesia.
Methods: The study was conducted between October 20 and November 5, 2023; the analysis involved 120 videos identified through the search terms "scapular dyskinesia" and "scapular winging." We assessed reliability and quality by employing the Modified DISCERN and Global Quality Scale (GQS).
Results: Of the 78 videos included, most (28.3%) of the videos were shared by physiotherapist. The median mDISCERN and GQS scores were 3 and 4, respectively, with the highest scores coming from physiotherapist sources. It was observed that the uploaded videos (79.5%) were of statistically significantly higher quality (p<0.001). Hovewer, it was dedected that the number (51.3%) of reliable videos was higher but did not create statistical significance (p:821). mDISCERN and GQS scores were positively correlated with image quality (r:0.243, p:0.032 and r:0.255, p:0.024, respectively) and each other (r:0.697, p<0.001).
Conclusion: YouTube videos on scapular dyskinesia were identified as high quality but low reliability resources. Physiotherapist-generated content emerged as both reliable and high quality, the trainers videos were high quality but low reliability, the physicians videos were only high quality, and the chiropractors videos were low reliability and quality.
