Metagenomics analysis of hospital effluents in Cameroon

This study, conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to characterize the bacterial diversity and resistome of hospital effluents in Cameroon in order to provide timely information on the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance and the genetic supports in the wastewater of hospitals during the COVID-19 outbreak. It will contribute to strengthening capacity of Cameroon to lay the groundwork for the first surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in the environment. These data could be used to assist policymakers in establishing appropriate national prevention and treatment strategies for the proper management of hospital effluents.
