The gut microbiota analysis of Akkermansia muciniphila treated normal and IL-6 KO mouse during high fat diet.

This project was to understand the differences in gut microbiota when treated with the isolated commensal bacteria Akkermansia muciniphila in mice during high fat diet. It is known that when Akkermansia muciniphila is treated in mice the IL-6 level in plasma become elevated and this is one of the known mechanisms of Akkermansia muciniphila treated mice. So to understand the IL-6 and metabolic diseases and also the mechanism of anti-obesity that Akkermansia muciniphila is known to have. We did an analysis of gut microbiota by using the NGS technique. This project has shown the relationship of gut microbiota and IL-6 and its effect to the induced obesity.
