Saccharopolyspora pogona is a Gram-positive actinomycete that produces butenyl-spinosyns as a secondary metabolite and have stronger insecticidal activity and broader pesticidal spectrum compared to spinosyns and also the most promising biopesticide . However, genetic background unknown of Saccharopolyspora pogona limit its metabolic engineering. Therefore, to elucidate the S. pogona genetic background and related biological pathways of butenyl-spinosyns biosynthesis, we obtained the whole genomic sequence of this strain by SMRT technology.
