PHIDU - Income Support Recipients (PHA) 2016

This dataset, released June 2017, contains statistics relating to the income support recipients of Age pensioners, June 2016; Disability support pensioners, June 2016; Female sole parent pensioners, June 2016; People receiving an unemployment benefit, June 2016; People receiving an unemployment benefit long-term, June 2016; Young people aged 16 to 24 receiving an unemployment benefit, June 2016; Low income, welfare-dependent families (with children), June 2016; Children in low income, welfare-dependent families, June 2016; Health Care Card holders, June 2016; Pensioner Concession Card holders, June 2016; Seniors Health Card holders, June 2016. The data is by Population Health Area (PHA) 2016 geographic boundaries based on the 2016 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).\n\n[Population Health Areas](http://phidu.torrens.edu.au/help-and-information/about-our-data/geographical-structures/pha-overview), developed by PHIDU, are comprised of a combination of whole SA2s and multiple (aggregates of) SA2s, where the SA2 is an area in the ABS structure.\n\nFor more information please see the [data source notes](http://phidu.torrens.edu.au/data-archive/sha-aust/2015-onwards/phidu_data_sources_notes_2017.pdf) on the data. \n\nSource: Compiled by PHIDU based on data from the Department of Social Services, June 2016; the ABS Estimated Resident Population, 30 June 2015; and the ABS Census 2011.\n\n AURIN has spatially enabled the [original data](https://phidu.torrens.edu.au/social-health-atlases/data#social-health-atlas-of-australia-population-health-areas).
