Photograph of a close-up of a specimen of Sticky Monkey flowers, ca.1920-1930. Three tough-looking fibrous stems are shown, each tipped by a smattering of orchid-like blossoms. A neutral background can be seen behind.; "Sticky Monkey Flower is a common woody subshrub to shrub with bright green sticky vegetation. The leaves are 2-8 cm long, linear to obovate with the edges of the leaves curled under. The flower is commonly yellow-orange color. It is found on rocky hillsides, cliffs, canyon slopes, disturbed areas, and borders of chaparral and open forest communities. At elevations less than 1600 m, it is found all over California." -- unknown author.
