Eclipse Icefield (Yukon, Canada) 2002 and 2016 borehole temperature data

This dataset contains measurements pertaining to firn and ice cores recovered from Eclipse Icefield (Yukon, Canada) in 2002 and 2016. The motivation for the studies was to understand the evolving nature of firn in the region, and to reconstruct past climate and environmental change from a variety of firn and ice core proxy records. Borehole temperature data are important for evaluating the impact of local and regional temperature change on firn temperature and structure. Boreholes were drilled with 8.2 centimeter (cm) drilling systems (an Icefield Instruments Eclipse drill in 2002 and a Stampfli drill in 2016), and borehole temperatures collected with a sealed temperature probe.
