Tularemia status in Swedish hares 2016-2021

Data on tularemia hares, provided by the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA). Dead hares (n = 443) found in the wild by public citizens in Sweden between January 2016 and May 2021 were reported and handed in to the SVA where they were tested for tularemia. Tests were performed using either PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) on a pooled sample of liver, spleen and kidney, or immunohistochemistry and histology. The dataset included coordinates of sites where hares were found together with hares’ tularemia status (i.e., if a hare tested positive or negative for tularemia, respectively).
