Epidemiological studies suggest a potential link between osteoarthritis (OA) and diabetes mellitus (DM) despite unclear molecular mechanisms.A greater understanding of the mechanisms that link OA and DM is needed to identify therapeutic targets in diabetic individuals who develop OA.In our study,we found 142 genes that are affected by both diseases. PTEN and GATA3 are excellent diagnostic markers for both OA and DM.In chondrocytes, increasing glucose levels led to an increase in PTEN expression while decreasing GATA3 expression.These findings provide valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms of both diseases, offering potential targets for therapeutic intervention.
