Phylogenetic analysis of Japanese Carex species of sect. Phacocystis and Podogynae. Carex

The most diverse angiosperm genus Carex offers an ideal setting to study how to shape the local species richness in temperate zone. Despite the recent broad-scale phylogenetic studies, the establishment processes of local species richness have not yet been investigated in insular system of East Asia, an engaging area for high Carex diversity. Here, we focused on sect. Phacocystis and Podogynae to explore the drivers of high species richness in Japan using phylogenetic approaches.
