The goal is to obtain genomic information on cold adapted bacteria especially isolates from Antarctic biomes (lakes, sea-ice, soil). The data will support subsequent studies related to adaptation and function using proteomics and orthogonal experiments. Draft genome of an isolate designated IC056 of the psychrophilic species Glaciecola punicea. The isolate IC056 was isolated from Antarctic sea-ice.It is a pink-purple pigmented Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that grows best at around 10 C.
