Anemometer records from four NOAA weather buoys (1975-2003) and the
Nantucket Light ship (1975-1981) were used to calculate sea-surface
wind stress for the Georges Bank region. Sea-surface wind stress was
calculated by the neutral stability method of Large and Pond,
J. Phys. Ocean, 11 (1981) 324. A detailed discussion of the data
collected by the four weather buoys can be found in Manning and
Strout, 2001, Deep-Sea Research II, 48:115-123.
