Pavement Management

This dashboard uses 2025 data from the Cape Cod Commission's Transportation Department. It uses the web map named "Pavement Survey- Most Recent Cond for Dashboard-2023_2". Pavement surface conditions as observed from a vehicle are collected on one third of Cape Cod's Federal Aid Eligible Municipal Roads each summer (called "cycle"). Each year an attribute field is added for the "most recent" condition of the pavement for that year. The current observations go into that field, then the most recent condition observed for the rest of the roads is entered in the same field. Thus, "most recent 2025" has data collected for cycle 1 roads in 2023 plus the cycle 2 roads data collected in 2024, and cycle 3 roads in 2025. The observations of pavement condition are grouped into five categories ranging from poor to excellent. In recent years, more specific notes have been made regarding potholes, sealed cracks, weathering, rutting, patched pavement, etc.
