Fitzpatrick phototype eligibility audit of aesthetic dermatology trials: data and code

Trial-level dataset, phototype parser, validation instruments and analysis code for an audit of 1,972 registered aesthetic dermatology trials retrieved from ClinicalTrials.gov on 1 November 2026. Energy-based device trials were about twice as likely as non-energy aesthetic trials to state eligibility criteria excluding Fitzpatrick phototypes V and VI (17.4% versus 8.9%; risk ratio 1.95, 95% CI 1.49-2.55). Decomposition shows the excess arises almost entirely from whether a phototype scale is named at all (41.7% versus 20.3%), not from greater selectivity among trials that name one (41.7% versus 43.9%). The archive contains the raw registry payloads, the derived datasets, every analysis script, and the blinded coding and adjudication instruments with the three coders' submissions, so that each reported number can be regenerated.
